Looking after yourself this Valentine's Day

February 14 is a date that can bring up many mixed feelings. For some, it’s a time to celebrate the people we love in our lives and the connections we have. For others, it can leave us feeling loneliness, grief, loss and disconnection. These feelings of loneliness have increased a lot during the pandemic, where dating and meeting new people became even more challenging. 

 

We want to hear what valentine’s day feels like for you and offer some ideas if valentine’s day is a tough day. 

 

Question 1: How do you feel about Valentine's Day: Yay or Nay? 

Question 2: If Feb 14 is a tough day, what do you do to help you get through it? 

 

We have searched far and wide for ideas about looking after yourself on Valentine's Day, and here are some of the ideas we found:

  • Use the day to instead focus on self care and self love
  • Rework the day to be about connection, and reach out a friend or family member that you value in your life
  • Take it easy; on days that can bring up big emotions, give yourself time to rest

  • Treat yo' self! Take this time to treat yourself to things you enjoy 
  • Take a break from social media on Valentine's Day
