Re: CBT workbooks , are they helpful ??

Hi @Shaz51's hubby.  Nice to (sort of) meet you Smiley Happy You have my sympathy in trying to read the book. From my point of view CBT can be very helpful in managing depression and anxiety.  But it can be hard to absorb that from a book.  Perhaps just focus on the exercises rather than reading too much introductory text.  If they don't make sense you can back track a little until you get it.

Alternatively there are online interactive courses you can do where the information is chunked down nicely and might hold your interest better.  You can try MoodGYM here which is free.

Whatever route you take I think it'll be worth it.  You'll get some strategies to help keep you calm and in a better frame of mind.

Let us know how you go Smiley Happy

I found MoodGYM very good. After that it's really about practising. I think about it as rephrasing rather than CBT.

That's good to hear @Kurra

thanks @suzanne xx this is @Shaz51 here

Hello @Kurra, how are you ??

Re: CBT workbooks , are they helpful ??

Hi @Shaz51's hubby (and Shaz!),

I too found MoodGym helpful and much more engaging and fun than reading a book about CBT. I still use some of the approaches in it and they help me in an ongoing way. Best wishes.

Re: CBT workbooks , are they helpful ??

I'm going well @Shaz51.
I'm still getting vile headaches but I'll be seeing a specialist about those when I'm in the city next week. I managed to get the appt with my pdoc and the other specialist one after the other anf fortunately they're both at same hospital.
I really hope your world is getting a little easier.
Hugs

Hi @Shaz51

Mindspot offers good free courses with support. Made reading through the course material and doing the exercises easier for me.
