Looking after ourselves

Re: heading towards a mental breakdown

Oh @Shaz51 , with everything that's happened it's not surprising. I think your possibly doing
everything you can. You & Mr Shaz are recognizing there's a problem, that shows strength
from you both, you understand {as much as anyone can} what's happening, your getting
professional medical help & your trying to rest & slow down. I know it's probably a
totally ridiculous suggestion, but - go camping; even if it's just under a tarp with a bed
roll & a can of beans. Do something different, a change in routine, particularly when the
routine is something you have no choice in . . . give yourself a choice, it might make you
feel more empowered & a little better Heart

{I don't know what the picture was, it didn't 'come through'}

Lots of love to you Shaz HeartHeartHeart

Re: heading towards a mental breakdown

Hi @Shaz51

I know Mr Shaz has lost a lot during recent years and this has unsettled him - and losing the house must be really hard on both of you

Starting again - building a new house or selling your land and buying a different house is a huge decision - enough to make anyone spend the night bothered about but as fragile as Mr Shaz is then it's harder I imagine.

There are such so many things to think about and yes - we do these things when we are younger - but as time passes we want and/or need stability and so I hear you - I hear him - but what do you do about it?

Actually what I think is that Mr Shaz needs to see his medical team and until he does it's best if he just goes to bed - that way time passes - it has worked for him to deal with his anxiety in the past and I am pretty sure he won't do much that is suggested so as hard as it is I would just get on with my life -

My ex wouldn't take a tablet for a headache and would sit in a chair and moan gently everytime I went near the lounge.  I would tell him I would do anything he needed if he would take a tablet for his headache and walk off - and I actually think all these years later he as chronically depressed and it has taken decades for me to realise that -

It comes down to a bottom line and most of us know that we have to help ourselves so all I can suggest is what I said earlier - for him to see a GP at least and be diagnosed otherwise - just go to bed because we know that he does change his mind

It's a bother for you though - you have your own health to think about and this drains you further when you need to have more support - and then there is your Mum and you are her carer.

If Mr Shaz wants to stop work is it possible for him to get onto the DSP - if his depression and anxiety are debilitating to such a degree he thinks he might have a nervous breakdown then perhaps that's what he needs to do - but you need the income

I wish you the best Shaz - this can't be easy - and I also heard that his mother is losing her vision - that has to be a worry

i'm sending gentle hugs - and hoping he is just feeling very low temporily and a rest will help

Re: heading towards a mental breakdown

@Shaz51

I am sorry to hear about Mr Shaz's health.

Sounds like he could really do with a break from work. Is he able to have a week off?

Also, as much as he won't like ]t, he needs to see a Psychiatrist, who can try and prevent the breakdown from occurring.

If he doesn't get professional help and does have a breakdown, then he could end up in hospital. Would telling him this make him more likely to reach out and get professional help?

Re: heading towards a mental breakdown

@Shaz51

I'm thinking it's a good thing that he recognises it... is it?

Mr S has been a little less than ordinary for a few weeks, but he thinks he is tickety boo and it's the rest of the plant that are out of step.

I believe that if we recognise ourselves that something is amiss it's a very positive thing - at least he knows the wheels are falling off

sometimes life is almost unbearably hard... exhausting... but what can you do?

Also take heart from the many quick replies you've had... you are loved and respected by the Sane members and we value your contributions and bright optimism every day.

Mr shaz would like to thank  everyone

He has taken double  of his meds this morning And  tonight

He is saying that his normal meds don't seem to be working  as they used to

So we have made a appt with the GP on Monday

Re: heading towards a mental breakdown

Happy to hear that @Shaz51 for you both. HeartHeart

Is Mr Shaz able to do his photography at this time? His images are beautiful.

I'm going through meds stuff at the moment, lowering and starting new one.

Re: heading towards a mental breakdown

@Mazarita

Yes , meds can be tricky,

With me the specialist adds a new med for me

Mr shaz worries about starting a new  med, and he did tell me about the things worrying him

So trying to reassure  him

Hard finding a balance at the moment with everything

Re: heading towards a mental breakdown

@Shaz51 good to hear Mr Shaz has been talking and you reassuring him. Yes, hard to find a balance in many things, I find. Wishing you both well with this day in some way enjoyable for you both. HeartHeart
